“…something as simple as executing a contract in person rather than via email can make the entire experience less stressful.”
Joni Dawson, a REALTOR® for 17 plus years, had her Ah-ha moment early in 2018 when she established her own brokerage and combined her real estate expertise with a lifelong passion for helping seniors. She started her real estate career in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and worked for Century 21 for many years. She and her husband, Jerry Dawson, made Granbury their permanent home 3 years ago. Her passion for helping seniors began when she had to help her grandmother sell her home of 55 years.
“It wasn’t just her and my grandfather’s house, it was our entire family’s home and it was hard. It was especially hard on her as she let go of a lot of personal belongings since she was down-sizing.”
Paired with a heart that understands the emotional struggle of selling a beloved home, Joni is also equipped with an SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) designation. Specific expertise geared to help seniors and baby boomers with their real estate and lifestyle needs as they face exciting, and sometimes daunting, transitions. “It’s not just about buying or selling a house. It could be staging a house, setting up an estate sale, dealing with reverse mortgages, senior legal issues … It can be stressful. Then add about 60 or 70 years to the equation.”
The Dawsons (also boomers!) have 4 grown children, 9 grand-children and another one on the way. When Joni isn’t working with clients or at home with family, she’s out and about with Granbury Chamber events and other ‘happenings’ around town. She’s recently served on the committee for the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes and is an active participant and organizer for the Granbury Square ‘Girls Night Out’ events as well. Enthralled with Granbury’s small town charm, Joni’s committed to those needing real estate services in the Hood County area for many years to come. She believes that no matter what, each real estate transaction is a “new beginning” one way or another and wants to help make it as positive and painless as possible. It’s why she chose a butterfly as her logo; to remind her of her commitment to help people with new beginnings even if they happen much later in life.
